Poem in Ballad form. Published in a small journal. My early work that I am uncomfortable with. Comments?

It's decent. Nice meter. OK rhymes (real/surreal definitely could have been better). I thought the voice was kind of odd -- didn't flow very well. And maybe a little too much time was spent on colorful descriptions and not enough on the story.
