Can I get Enduring Power of Attorney for my dad.?

My dad is wanting to give me POA over him as he is in a nursing home-he also wanted me to have health decisions if he ever couldn't make it himself. The thing is I filed bankruptcy last year and was discharged two months ago. Would this have any effect over me being able to be POA.
