that the hidden reason such a tradition should develop in so many separate cultures lies in a remark my professor made about being careful about going hiking in bear country with a menstruating woman as the bears could smell it, and if hungry, attack. Do you know of any HG cultures with large predators in the area that do not have such a tradition?
