How to slaughter a chicken the halal way?

Like if I had chickens, and I wanted to slaughter one, can I cut off the whole head (to sever the brain stem so the chicken doesnt feel pain) or can I stick the knife in its brain and then immediately cut the throat? If I use the first method, the chicken will still move and therefore pump out the blood. All I know is that you have to say tasmiyah before killing it and you have to sever the jugular veins and trachea and stuff. Oh, and if Im a woman, can I do it myself? Ive never seen a woman slaughter anything, but maybe that b/c theyre squeamish, lol.
